Hidden away in the meandering center of Avignon, and literally leaning against the Palais des Papes, La Mirande is one of the region’s most legendary establishments. A veritable invitation to travel back in time, the 26 rooms and suites, decorated by Parisian François-Joseph Gaf, are set in a classic 18th-century Provencal style, infinitely romantic and timeless.
In terms of gastronomy, the restaurant alone is worth the trip. It was not only awarded a Michelin star in 2020, but also a green star in 2021. Not surprising when you consider the talent of chef Florent Pietravalle, ex-second-in-command to Pierre Gagnaire in Paris, who advocates ultra-creative local cuisine, oscillating between land and sea.
